Eclipse WST 1.0 - Download it free, or your money back!

posted under category: CFEclipse on December 30, 2005 at 1:00 am by MrNate

I just noticed the Eclipse WST (Web Standards Tools project) 1.0 made its way out the door a week ago. I should really get on a mailing list or something, it seems like I'm always a week or 2 behind on their releases. This download, available through the standard Eclipse update mechanisims, brings in editors for HTML, XML, CSS, Javascript, and an enormous host of other file types.

The previous stable release, 0.7, came out almost 5 months ago, and I've been using it every day since, so I'm anxious to see what's new and how much better it works.

If you're looking for a good all-purpose web file editor, and have been wanting to give Eclipse or CFEclipse a try, this may be your chance.

On a related note, it looks like I'll be giving a talk at the next AZCFUG on CFEclipse, how to use it, how to make it useful, that sort of thing. If you're in the area, stop on in!

Just how do you trigger the editor to work on HTML files? there seems to be no attached perspectives that would bring up the WST editor.

Lola,
There isn't a perspective with the WST, It's just a ton of editors.

It's possible your HTML files are linked to another editor. You may be able to open it with WST by right-clicking on it and selecting to open it with the HTML Editor, or change your preferences in window / preferences / general / editors / file associations.

If it still doesn't work, verify that it's really installed (help / about / plug-in details). HTH!
